How to calculate Quantity of Cement, Sand, Aggregate & Water in M7.5 concrete?

In order to calculate the required quantity of Cement, Sand, Coarse Aggregates and water for M7.5 grade of concrete we have to follow 6 simple steps.

1. Assumptions

Volume of concrete = 1 m³

Grade of concrete M7.5  (1:4:8)

2. Find-out the Quantity of concrete (Wet volume & Dry volume)

Wet volume of concrete = 1 m³

Here, wet volume is nothing but Volume of the concrete after mixing with water.

∵ Dry volume = Wet volume x 1.54 (You can also take it as 1.50 to 1.55, But it became standard practice to considering 1.54 as multiplication factor).

what is 1.54 in concrete?

Dry volume of concrete = 1 x 1.54 =1.54 m³

3. Find-out quantity of Cement

∵ Quantity of cement = (Dry volume of concrete x cement ratio)/(sum of the ratio)

Cement = (1.54 x 1)/(1+4+8)=0.1184 m³

∵ Density of Cement = 1440 kg/m³

Weight of Cement = 1440 x 0.1184 = 170.584 Kg

∵ 1 bag of cement contains 50 kg of cement

Number of bags = 170.584 Kg/50 kg = 3.411 ≅ 4 No’s

4. Find-out quantity of Sand

∵ Cement : Sand :: 1:4

Quantity of sand =Quantity of cement x 4

∴ Quantity of Sand = 0.1184 x 4 = 0.474

∵ 1m³=35.3147 Cubic Feet (CFT)

Quantity of sand = 0.474 x 35.3147 = 16.739 CFT

∵ Weight of sand = volume x density, Density of Sand = 1600 kg/m^3

∴ Weight of sand= 0.474 x 1600 =  758.4 kg (0.758 tonnes)

5. Find-out quantity of Coarse Aggregates

∵ Cement : Coarse Aggregates :: 1:8

Quantity of Coarse Aggregates =Quantity of cement x 8

∴ Quantity of Coarse Aggregates = 0.1184 x 8 = 0.947

∵ 1m³=35.3147 Cubic Feet (CFT)

Quantity of Coarse Aggregates = 0.947 x 35.3147 = 33.443 CFT

∵ Weight of Coarse Aggregates = volume x density, Density of Coarse Aggregates = 1520 kg/m^3

∴ Weight of Coarse Aggregates = 0.947 x 1520 =  1439.44 kg (1.439 tonnes)

6.Find-out quantity of water

Assume water cement ratio as 0.50

Quantity of water =  170.584 x 0.50 = 85.292 Liters
