Quantity of bricks required for brickwork depends upon the following factors:
- Thickness of plaster
- Size of the bricks.
Depending upon the size of the brick & thickness of plaster number bricks required will be change. So, let’s see how to calculate the number of bricks required for 1 m³
Assuming:-
Volume of brickwork = 1 m³
Thickness of mortar = 10mm (1cm)
Quantity of Bricks:-
Case i:- Modular brick
Size of brick—>190mm x 90mm x 90 mm
No. of bricks = Volume of brickwork/ volume of 1 brick with mortar
Volume of 1 Brick with mortar = 0.20×0.10×0.10=0.002 m³
& Volume of brickwork = 1 m³
∴ No. of bricks = 1/0.002 = 500 No’s
Case ii:- Non Modular brick
Practically to match with the beam width a brick or block of width 230 mm is used widely in construction industry. The 115 mm is considered for half brick. The size 230mm x1 10mm x 110mm or 230mm x 110mm x 75mm is generally used in construction industry.
- Size of brick—> 230mm x 110mm x 110 mm
No. of bricks = Volume of brickwork/ volume of 1 brick with mortar
Volume of 1 Brick with mortar = 0.23×0.11×0.11=0.002783 m³
& Volume of brickwork = 1 m³
∴ No. of bricks =1 m³ /0.002783 m³= 359.32 No’s
- Size of brick—> 230mm x 110mm x 75 mm
No. of bricks = Volume of brickwork/ volume of 1 brick with mortar
Volume of 1 Brick with mortar = 0.23×0.11×0.075=0.0018975 m³
& Volume of brickwork = 1 m³
∴ No. of bricks =1 m³ /0.0018975 m³= 527 No’s
Different countries uses different sizes of bricks, But procedure for calculating the quantity of bricks needed for brickwork is same. I have calculated no.of standard bricks required per m³ for few countries.
